With a runtime of 167 minutes and a U/A 16+ certificate, the tone is serious and grounded, blending personal ambition with the harsh realities of a village at war. The music is composed by Mickey J Meyer. Champion will stream on Netflix in India from 29 January 2026.
Should you watch Champion?
Watch it for
- Roshan Meka leads as Michael C Williams, a footballer chasing a dream that pulls him into a village conflict, with Anaswara Rajan as Tallapudi Chandrakala and Kay Kay Menon as Qasim Razvi in key roles.
- Director Pradeep Advaitham blends the history and drama genres, setting a personal journey against a bloody village conflict rather than a straightforward sports story.
- The 167-minute runtime gives the village conflict and Michael's journey room to develop, with Mickey J Meyer's music supporting the serious tone.
- A strong supporting cast including Nandamuri Kalyana Chakravarthy, Santhosh Prathap, Murali Sharma, Ranvir Shorey and Hyper Adhi adds depth to the village setting.
Skip it if
- You want a pure football movie; the story moves away from the sport and into a village at war.
- You prefer shorter films, as the 167-minute runtime demands patience.
- You avoid historical dramas with violent conflict, given the U/A 16+ certificate and the bloody village backdrop.

Our verdict
Champion is a grounded historical drama that uses a footballer's dream as the entry point into a village at war, with Roshan Meka and a deep supporting cast carrying the weight. The 167-minute runtime and serious tone mean it is not a light watch, but Mickey J Meyer's music and Pradeep Advaitham's direction keep it focused. If you like drama over spectacle, this one is worth your time.
