Ra.One story (no spoilers)
Shekhar Subramaniam (Shah Rukh Khan) designs an action game in which the villain, Ra.One, is more powerful than the hero, G.One. When Ra.One takes physical form, Shekhar's son Prateek (Armaan Verma) is caught in the middle. To stop Ra.One, G.One must come to life and face his own creation. The film mixes science fiction and action with a family story at its centre. It runs 156 minutes and is rated U in India.
Should you watch Ra.One?
Watch it for
- Shah Rukh Khan plays both Shekhar Subramaniam and G.One, while Arjun Rampal plays the villain Ra.One.
- Director Anubhav Sinha blends adventure, action and science fiction in a 156-minute Hindi film that also includes English dialogue.
- Kareena Kapoor Khan plays Sonia S. Subramanium and Armaan Verma plays Prateek, grounding the game-world story in a family dynamic.
- The tagline 'Yes, angels do exist.' hints at the film's playful tone, and the U certificate makes it a relatively accessible action adventure.
Skip it if
- You prefer grounded, realistic action over a sci-fi premise about a video game villain coming to life.
- You want a shorter runtime; 156 minutes is a long commitment.
- You are looking for a movie with no fantasy or gaming elements.

Our verdict
Ra.One is a ambitious sci-fi action film that brings a video game villain to life. Shah Rukh Khan's dual role and Arjun Rampal's villainous turn are the main draws. At 156 minutes, it takes its time, but the U certificate makes it a safe pick for family viewing.
