Vijay 69 story (no spoilers)
Vijay Mathew, a former swimming coach with a foul mouth and a taste for adventure, is 69 years old and not ready to slow down. When he sets his sights on a record-breaking feat, he decides to attempt a triathlon—a gruelling combination of swimming, cycling, and running. The film follows Vijay as he trains for this immense physical challenge, navigating the doubts of those around him and his own limitations. With the help of an unlikely support system, including Fali, Aditya, and Coach Kumar, Vijay pushes himself toward a goal that seems impossible for a man his age. The tone balances the seriousness of his endeavor with the comedy of his irascible personality, creating a warm, humorous drama about resilience and second chances. As the triathlon approaches, Vijay must confront whether his body and spirit can truly meet the challenge he has set for himself.

Our verdict
Vijay 69 is a charming, low-key film that hinges on Anupam Kher's cranky charisma as a 69-year-old chasing a triathlon. It doesn't reinvent the underdog sports genre, but its blend of humour and heart makes for a pleasant 112-minute watch. If you enjoy stories about late-life reinvention, this one delivers without unnecessary drama.
