Adipurush story (no spoilers)
Set 7000 years ago, Adipurush follows Ayodhya's Prince Raghava and Prince Sesh as they join forces with the Mighty Vanar Warriors to travel to the island of Lanka. Their mission is to rescue Raghava's wife Janaki, who has been abducted by Lankesh, the king of Lanka. The film is an action-adventure fantasy that dramatizes this rescue mission, with the tagline 'Celebrating Victory Of Good Over Evil' hinting at the moral arc. The conflict pits Raghava and his allies against Lankesh and his forces in a battle that spans the journey to Lanka and the confrontation that follows. The tone is heroic and larger-than-life, with a runtime of 179 minutes allowing for an epic telling. The story focuses on the rescue mission and the clash between the two sides, without revealing the outcome.

Skip it if

- If you prefer grounded stories over mythological fantasy, the 7000-year-old setting and Vanar Warriors may not appeal.

Our verdict
Adipurush is a U-certified action-adventure fantasy with a strong cast led by Prabhas and Saif Ali Khan. The 179-minute runtime and Om Raut's direction aim for an epic scale, though the U certificate means the action is less intense than some might expect. It's a straightforward good-versus-evil story that families can watch together.
