Patriot story (no spoilers)
Patriot follows a Malayali DRW analyst, Dr. Daniel James, who tries to expose a corrupt regional politician from Kerala and his malpractices involving spyware. When the analyst goes on the run, he reinvents himself as a vlogger and must clear his name of false allegations levelled against him. The film is a Malayalam-language action drama thriller directed by Mahesh Narayanan, with Mammootty playing Dr. Daniel James. The cast also includes Mohanlal as Col. Rahim Naik, Fahadh Faasil as Shakthi Sundaram, Kunchacko Boban as Michael Devassy, Nayanthara as Adv. Lathika, Revathi as CM Nalini Ramakrishnan, Zarin Shihab as Ayisha Iqbal, and Rajiv Menon as J.P. Sundaram. The tone is tense and driven by the cat-and-mouse conflict between the analyst and the politician, set against a spyware scandal. The film runs 177 minutes and is certified U/A 16+ in India. Music is by Sushin Shyam.

Parental guide: is Patriot family friendly?
This is a general guide based on the U/A 16+ certificate and the action drama thriller genre; it is not a scene-by-scene breakdown. This is a general guide based on genre and certification.
Our verdict
Patriot brings Mammootty, Mohanlal, Fahadh Faasil, and Nayanthara together under Mahesh Narayanan for a 177-minute action drama thriller about spyware and political corruption. The U/A 16+ certificate signals a serious tone, and the vlogger premise gives the runaway analyst a distinct angle. It is a solid pick for Malayalam thriller fans who do not mind the long runtime.
