Our verdict
Saaransh is a restrained, well-acted drama that trusts its audience to sit with grief rather than rush past it. Anupam Kher and Rohini Hattangadi carry the film with quiet intensity, and Mahesh Bhatt keeps the focus on the couple's inner lives. It is not an easy watch, but it is a thoughtful one for viewers who value serious Hindi cinema from the 1980s.
