Shaitaan story (no spoilers)
Kabir Rishi, his wife Jyoti, and their children Jahnvi and Dhruv head out for a weekend retreat that turns terrifying when an intruder named Vanraj Kashyap takes control of Jahnvi's body. Vanraj issues increasingly sinister orders, leaving the family at his mercy as they try to break his hold over the teenage girl. The Hindi-language thriller-horror, directed by Vikas Bahl, runs 132 minutes and carries a UA certificate. Its tagline, 'Hell comes home,' sets the tone for a tense, confined story about a family facing an unseen and deeply personal threat.
Should you watch Shaitaan?
Watch it for
- Ajay Devgn plays Kabir Rishi, the father trying to protect his family, while R. Madhavan plays the intruder Vanraj Kashyap.
- Director Vikas Bahl builds a thriller-horror story around a single terrifying premise: an outsider controlling a teenage daughter's body.
- The film runs 132 minutes and carries a UA certificate, so it delivers sustained tension without an adults-only rating.
- Amit Trivedi provides the music for this Hindi-language release, which arrived in Indian theatres on 8 March 2024.
Skip it if
- You prefer horror without a body-control or possession angle, since the central conflict hinges on Vanraj's control over Jahnvi.
- You want a light, easy watch; the film's tone is built around a home invasion and a family under threat.
- You dislike confined, single-location tension, as the story stays with the Rishi family's retreat for its 132-minute runtime.

Our verdict
Shaitaan pairs Ajay Devgn and R. Madhavan in a thriller-horror setup where a family weekend becomes a fight for control over a teenage daughter. Vikas Bahl keeps the premise tight across 132 minutes, and the UA certificate means the scares stay within a broadly watchable range. It is a solid pick if you want a tense Hindi thriller with a supernatural twist, not a light family film.
