Deewaanapan story (no spoilers)
Suraj Saxena (Arjun Rampal) lives in a remote hill station with his father Prakash (Om Puri), mother (Smita Jaykar), and sister Asha (Amita Nangia). When Kiran Choudhary (Dia Mirza) arrives on a holiday with a group of girls, Suraj offers to show her around, and the two fall in love. Suraj plans to see Kiran off at the train, but his father suffers chest pains and must be rushed to hospital, so he cannot go. Kiran leaves, but Suraj cannot get her out of his mind. After Asha's wedding, the family relocates to Bombay, where Suraj enrols in college, makes new friends, and becomes a popular football player. He eventually meets Kiran again, and they renew their romance. The film is a 153-minute Hindi action-romance directed by Ashu Trikha, blending mountain-station courtship with college life and a Bombay reunion.

Our verdict
Deewaanapan is a straightforward 2001 Hindi action-romance that pairs Arjun Rampal and Dia Mirza under director Ashu Trikha. The hill-station-to-Bombay journey and Suraj's football subplot give it a specific early-2000s flavour. At 153 minutes it takes its time, but it delivers the romance and action its genre promises.
